This will be my first SF Ball - I'm just there for the day on Sat.

Is there going to be a schedule posted at any point?

Am I right in assuming we buy photo ops and autograph tickets when we get there?

There is normally a schedual in the con pack which you should receive when you register on arrival

And yes you pay for autos and photos on the day.

And most importantly, welcome to the Ball and hope you have a great time

I'm only going for the day as well, but whether you are going for a day or the whole weekend you still should have a good time. If there is ever anything you are unsure of (on the day) the crew and forum lot are usually more then willing to help you out.

I can testify to the truth of what everyone here is saying - last year I came to the Ball for Saturday only (like yourself). It was the first SFB event that I'd attended and only the second Sci-fi event. But everyone was so lovely and helpful that I decided to go to the Reunion in September last year, and am here for the whole Ball weekend this year. Everyone is still lovely! You'll have a great time Lis!

What time should I aim to be at the hotel for on Sat morning? I'm staying nearby at the Travelodge Friday night (should be arriving there 9pmish) as I figured it may be an early start.

Im not sure if anyone will be able to reply or not as they will there already, setting up for the event, but talks usually start around 9/10am so best get there a little before then. what ever time they start, if you do get there and find the talks have not started yet theres always the dealers room to explore nd plenty of people to chat too.
